Polydactyly

Whether your child was born with an extra finger or digit, we are ready to treat him or her and build a unique care plan. We will work with you and your child throughout the rehabilitation process, from diagnosis to possible surgery to aftercare. If the additional finger is joined to the rest of the body by a thin “stalk” or “nub” of soft tissue, it is generally simple to remove (ulnar polydactyly). To extract the extra digit, a small operation or tying off (ligating) the nub in the nursery may be employed.
